How to start mining XBT at home
XBT is mined with BLAKE2b, the same algorithm the old Sia ASICs use, so you can buy a machine today, plug it in at home and earn XBT tomorrow. Here's the whole path: pick a machine, check your power, set up a wallet and pool, and know your numbers before you spend a dollar.
1. Pick a machine
Any Sia BLAKE2b ASIC works: Goldshell, iBeLink, Antminer A3 and others. The real choice is between quiet small boxes and big loud ones.
| Machine | Hash rate | Power | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goldshell SC Box | 0.9 TH/s | 200 W | A shelf in your office. A normal outlet. |
| Goldshell SC Lite | 4.4 TH/s | 950 W | A normal 120V outlet on its own circuit. |
| Goldshell SC5 Pro | 11 TH/s | 2,820 W | Garage or shed, 240V circuit. |
| iBeLink BM-S3 | 19 TH/s | 3,100 W | Garage or shed, 240V circuit. |
Prices and more models are on our miner list. Big machines are loud, roughly like a vacuum cleaner running all day, so plan for a garage, shed or basement.
2. Check your power before you buy
- Amps: a 3,100 W miner draws about 26 amps at 120V, which no normal household circuit can carry. At 240V it's about 13 amps, which fits a dedicated 20A circuit. Keep any circuit at or under 80% of its rating.
- Heat: every watt becomes heat. A 3,100 W miner puts out about 10,600 BTU an hour, about the same as a space heater on high. Great in winter, a problem in a closed room in summer.
- Cost: find your rate in cents per kWh on your power bill. It decides everything.
If you're adding a 240V circuit, have an electrician do it.
3. Do the math first
Hash price tells you what a terahash earns per day. On Oct 10 it was about $10.79 per TH per day, before a difficulty increase of about 17% expected around Oct 17. Here's one machine at $0.13/kWh:
| Machine | Earns per day | Power per day | Profit per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Goldshell SC Box | about $9.70 | about $0.62 | about $9.10 |
| Goldshell SC Lite | about $47 | about $3 | about $44 |
| iBeLink BM-S3 | about $205 | about $9.70 | about $195 |
Those numbers won't last. On a young chain, difficulty climbs fast as new machines join, and the price swings hard: XBT went from about $1,100 to about $820 within one day this week. Run the numbers again at a quarter of today's hash price. If the machine still makes sense, you're on solid ground. Our mining calculator on the home page uses live numbers.
4. Set up a wallet
You need an XBT address for payouts. Use a fresh address from a wallet you control, such as the Sparrow BLAKE2b build. Our cold storage guide walks through it. Never use an exchange deposit address as a mining payout address.
5. Pick a pool and connect
No node? Point the miner at a pool's stratum address with your XBT address as the username. Running a node? Use DATUM so you build your own blocks. Our guide How to choose an XBT mining pool covers fees, payouts and the traps.
In the miner's web page, enter the pool URL, your worker name and password (often anything, like x), save, and check the pool's dashboard after 15 minutes to see your hash rate.
6. Remember the lock
Newly mined XBT is currently locked for about 45 days before you can spend it, and a community vote could make it longer. You'll pay your power bill for at least a month and a half before you can sell a single mined coin. Budget for that.
Start with one machine. Run it for a couple of weeks, see real payouts land in your wallet, then decide whether to add more.

Not financial advice. Mining can lose money. Earnings use Oct 10, 2026 hash price and $0.13/kWh power and will change with price and difficulty. Some links on the miner page are referral links.
