Why isn't XBT on Coinbase, Kraken or Binance yet?
XBT is 59 days past the Aug 8 chain split and 35 days into trading, and none of the three biggest exchanges has listed it. That has started a debate on X. Some holders read the silence as a sign the coin is being taken seriously; others ask whether something is wrong. Here is what the history says, and what a listing usually takes.
How Bitcoin Cash got listed in 2017
A useful comparison came from @plasticredhotel, replying to a thread started by @MBerger47. According to that post, Bitcoin Cash forked from Bitcoin on Aug 1, 2017, and:
| ViaBTC | Futures trading before the fork |
| Kraken | Trading the same day (Aug 1); deposits Aug 7 |
| Binance | Trading the next day; deposits Sept 11 |
| Coinbase | 140 days later, about 4½ months |
Dates as given in that post. We are checking them against the exchanges' own 2017 announcements.
Notice the gap even at the fast exchanges: trading came first, deposits days or weeks later. Exchanges let people trade coins they already held from the split before opening the door to new coins.
Where XBT stands
| Chain split | Aug 8, 2026 (block 961,632) |
| First trading | Sept 1, 2026 |
| Markets today | Neoxa (USDC, USDT, BTC pairs) and NonKYC |
| Days since split | 59 |
| Coinbase's 2017 pace would mean | around Dec 26, 2026 |
By the Bitcoin Cash yardstick, XBT is late for Kraken and Binance but still early for Coinbase.
What exchanges usually weigh
- Safe deposits and withdrawals. When two chains share history, a transaction on one can sometimes be copied onto the other. Exchanges want to know coins can be moved on one chain without risk to the other before they open deposits.
- Running the chain. They need nodes, wallets and monitoring for a new network, plus confidence that it will not reorganize deep or stall.
- Who is behind it. In 2017 Bitcoin Cash had large miners and large holders pushing for listings on day one. XBT came out of a grassroots node movement, without a company or big miners asking exchanges for support.
- Legal and brand questions. Listing a coin that calls itself Bitcoin, in a fight over what Bitcoin is, is a decision big US and global exchanges take carefully.
- Demand. Exchanges list what their users ask for and what will trade. XBT volume is rising, about $1 million on its biggest days, but small next to large-cap coins.
None of this means a listing is coming or that it is not. It means silence so far fits how big exchanges have handled forks before.
