NonKYC handled about 54% of tracked volume. A lot of that came during today's sell-off, when about $90K of selling hit the books and XBT wicked to $630 (our story).
Why the prices don't match
In big markets, traders buy on the cheap exchange and sell on the expensive one until the gap closes. On XBT that takes real work: deposits need confirmations, withdrawals have fees and limits, and both order books are thin. Until more traders and market makers show up, gaps of a few percent can sit there for hours.
What it means for you
- Check both before you trade. A 4% gap on a $5,000 order is $200. Live prices for every market are on the xbt.live homepage.
- Use limit orders. Thin books mean a market order can fill far from the last price.
- Count the transfer cost. Moving coins between exchanges takes time and fees, and the gap can close before you arrive.
- Don't leave coins sitting on any exchange. Withdraw to a wallet you control. Our cold storage guide covers how.
