XBT Mining Difficulty
Difficulty at every retarget since the split, plus the live estimate for the next one.
What this chart shows
Difficulty sets how hard it is to find a block. Every 2,016 blocks the network adjusts it so blocks keep arriving about every 10 minutes. When more miners join, blocks come faster and difficulty goes up at the next retarget. When miners leave, it comes down.
The step line shows difficulty at each retarget since the split. The shaded band marks the 45-day coinbase lock window. Live retarget countdown on the home page.
